From December 2024 to April 2025, TeachSTEAM partnered with Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) English Medium Schools to roll out a structured SIX BRICKS teacher training program aimed at enhancing learning experiences for early-grade students.
Six Bricks is a hands-on tool for ‘learning through play’, developed by Care for Education, South Africa & powered by LEGO® Foundation, Denmark. Six Bricks consist of red, orange, yellow, green, dark blue and light blue 2 x 4 DUPLO® bricks.
The program was conducted across 7 AMC schools, namely:
- AMC Thaltej Public School
- AMC Naranpura Public School
- AMC Dariyapur Public School
- AMC Kubernagar Public School
- AMC Ramol Hathijan Public School
- AMC Gomatipur Public School
- AMC Nava Vanzar Public School
The initiative went as follows:
1. Curriculum mapping to align LEGO SIX BRICKS activities with existing academic goals.
2. A specially curated teacher training booklet was created, followed by in-depth interactive training sessions.
3. Teachers were trained in practical classroom applications, observation techniques, and inclusive learning strategies.
Throughout the four-month program, 7 lead teachers were trained, reaching over 330 students from Balvatika to Grade 3. More than 200 LEGO SIX BRICKS kits were distributed, and weekly classroom implementation brought visible improvements in focus, memory, motor skills, and engagement.
Teachers responded enthusiastically, calling the experience productive and enriching. The program showcased how structured play can support foundational learning, especially in government-run early education systems.
TeachSTEAM remains committed to strengthening this initiative through regular training and ongoing support.
